Proofreading is simply putting the final polish on your words.
Unfortunately, no matter how good your piece of work is, if there are typos and other errors, many people will simply be turned off. When you’ve worked so hard to bring a project to life, that’s a real shame.
Getting a proofreader to cast their professional eye over your work will make sure readers aren’t distracted so they can fully immerse themselves in your story or message, allowing your intention to clearly stand out to them.

Dungeons and Dragons
Fifth Edition SPECIALIST
As a player and DM since D&D5e was published, I know the system inside and out.
I’ll check your DnD5e module, book, adventure or other work against published rules (I work with either, or both of, the 2014 and 2024 rulesets), as well as checking grammar and spelling, and consistency within the work.
This is offered with particular thought to new Kickstarter projects, or Patreon work going off to subscribers – there’s nothing worse than delivering your hard work and being innundated with comments about typos and inconsistencies…
I can also check formatting and layout for consistency with the original rulebooks if desired.
ABOUT ME
I’ve been proofreading a variety of different types of work for over twenty years (I’ve done work for garden centres, financial institutions, charities, florists, and fiction writers), but until 2018 it was simply as part of my day-to-day job. On launching my own business, I decided I wanted to put my skills to better use helping more people bring their projects to life.
That’s when I set up Blue Larch and joined the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) as an Entry-Level Member, to enable clients to have confidence in my work.
I am now an Intermediate Member of the Institute, having passed my latest exams with merit, about which I’m very pleased!
